Edit your photos, mash them up into beautiful collages, and send postcards with Fuzel 2.0

There is an abundance of apps in the App Store devoted to making collages of your photos, and Fuzel has always been one of my favorites. It was recently updated to version 2.0, making this great collage-making app even better.

One of the big new features of Fuzel is the ability to create 5.25"x5.25" postcards and send them to friends and family. Shipping within the US is $1.99 and Internationally costs $3.99. This postcard feature is thanks to Fuzel's new partnership with MyPublisher Inc.

Fuzel has also added a new full-featured photo editor so that you can do all your editing directly in the app instead of switching to another app to do your editing. The adjustments you can make include lighting, color, sharpness, blur, and vignette. The editing tool is really simple to use and simply requires you to slide your finger left/right or up/down to apply the intensity of the adjustment (similar to iPhoto).

In addition to making basic edits to your photos, Fuzel also includes 19 different filters with the option to purchase 12 more as an in-app purchase for $0.99.

One of the great features of Fuzel is the ability to add frames, patterns, and labels to your collages and with 2.0, now there's even more to choose from. Fuzel comes with 6 labels and 24 patterns with the option to buy 12 more labels as an in-app purchase for $0.99.

The good

  • Excellent interface
  • Beautiful design
  • Edit individual photos
  • Add filters to photos
  • Choose a pre-designed template or edit your own cuts to make your collage truly unique
  • Choose between several different popular crop ratios (not just square!)
  • Send real postcards to friends and family
  • Add frames, patterns, and labels

The bad

  • Postcards restricted to square
  • Icons for choosing between taking a photo with the built-in camera or choosing one from the Camera Roll are nontraditional and may seem confusing to some
  • "Open in Instagram doesn't work correctly (this could be an Instagram problem, not Fuzel)"
  • Not available for iPad (it would be awesome on iPad!)

The conclusion

With Fuzel's update, it continues to be my go-to collage making app. It has an impressive design and includes a lot of features without feeling cluttered or complicated. Fuzel is an excellent app for creating collages.

Fuzel has a free version and "Pro" version. Purchasing the "Essential Pack" in the free version will make it equivalent to Fuzel Pro. So if you want to give Fuzel a spin before committing to the whopping $0.99 it costs to purchase the Pro version, give the free version a go and let us know what you think!

Easy Plumbing Strategies That Work Efficiently And Anyone Can Try

Welcome to the wide world of plumbing. Plumbing can be a confusing whirl of complicated equipments and laborious repairs. When plumbing is viewed as a form of home improvement particular to your home?s plumbing system, it may seem difficult to determine which methods, techniques, supplies, and other plumbing elements are going to work best for you. You can get some helpful suggestions from this article.

Many people have nightmares about plumbing, because they believe it is something that can destroy their home. However, you can save yourself the bad dreams with just one tip. Know where your main water valve is so you can quickly turn off your water supply and prevent water damage.

If your garbage disposal is not working correctly, you should not try to fix it by putting your hand in through the drain. A garbage disposal can be dangerous, even when it is not on. Research on the Internet for diagrams, troubleshooters or FAQ?s about your disposal.

If you notice a puddle of water surrounding your water heater, shut off the water at the valve right away. If you don?t, that small leak could become a big leak that can be hard to shut off.

Adequately insulate pipes that are prone to becoming cold during the winter months, such as pipes that reside in attics or exterior walls. Insulation which perfectly wraps all around the pipe can be bought. Insulating your pipes will keep your water hot, but even more than that, it will prevent bursting of pipes if they do freeze.

A hairdryer can help to resolve any issues you might have with frozen pipes. You should use a low heat setting on the hairdryer. Although it may take some time, you?ll avoid having to resort to riskier repair techniques or having to call a professional plumber.

If your washing machine?s drain stack overflows, use a standard snake to fix it. The pipe may be clogged up due to lint.

When changing your shower head, replace it with one of good quality. Most times, people tend to think that it is alright to purchase the most inexpensive shower head they could find. Cheap shower heads can break much more easily.

With plumbing, there are various techniques you can use to improve and repair your system. As you are now aware, in the area of plumbing there is something anyone can do for every home. However, not every strategy works for every system. These tips should help you begin with your own system.

Chimp Comedy Brings the Blues

Costumed chimps used to make me grin ear to ear when I saw them on TV. Now I realize there?s little that separates that delight from coveting a Chinese potion made from rhino tusks. It is sad to lose this pleasure, but somehow I?ll manage.

After a visit to Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Sierra Leone, I knew my days of snickering at chimps imitating actors were over. As it turns out, many other non-Africans have delighted in chimps before me. Since 1950, the small West African country exported more than 2,000 live chimps to the US, Japan, and Europe for the entertainment industry and for biomedical research. A law restricting such exports was passed in the eighties, but chimps continued to be owned within Sierra Leone, typically by tourists and expatriates including Peace Corps volunteers [reference 1]. A young chimp sells for US$61 on average, which is a pretty price in a country where most people survive on less than $1 per day.

Young chimps are super cute! But as they age, the jungle within appears. They flip tables, tear down drapes, and occasionally attack. A grown chimp is far stronger than a grown man, and it bears fiercer teeth. (Remember when Travis the chimp, a former star in Coca Cola and Old Navy commercials, mauled Charla Nash in Connecticut?) People tend to ditch their pet chimps once they?ve grown, but these human-raised creatures can no longer fend for themselves in the wild, and zoos often turn them away because they do not know how to integrate within chimp society.

Chimps at Tacugama from Amy Maxmen on Vimeo.

Thus, in 1995, an accountant in Sierra Leone, Bala Amarasekaran, established Tacugama Chimp Sanctuary to rehabilitate orphaned chimps, and to advocate against the chimpanzee pet trade. Some of the sanctuary?s chimps are donated by expatriates who no longer want their pets. Others are discovered within cages in abandoned houses, or chained by the road for sale. More recently, authorities confiscate illegally owned chimps because of a 2007 law prohibiting the capture, killing, or possession of chimps in Sierra Leone, and bring them to Tacugama.

A skinny Sierra Leonean man with a lazy eye and a warm demeanor named Moses Kappia led my tour of Tacugama Sanctuary. As we watched chimps howl and bounce through various rehabilitation enclosures, we talked about the history of the sanctuary.

When Kappia arrived at Tacugama 16 years ago, he watched it blossom with start-up donations from the European Union. Soon after, the sanctuary struggled to survive as civil war ripped through Sierra Leone. In 1997, rebels broke into the sanctuary and threatened to kill the chimpanzees for food, but Kappia and the few remaining staff convinced them to spare the animals. Instead, the rebels stole their belongings, their food, and the food and medicine intended for the chimps. The rebels returned again during that brutal, 11-year ?blood diamond? war, and again Kappia defended the chimps.

As the war wound down in 2002, Tacugama joined together with other African primate sanctuaries in the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance. They still struggle for funds, but manage to care for nearly 100 orphaned chimps that now frolic in their fenced-in slice of jungle.

Ali, my taxi driver, accompanied me on the tour. Inspired by Kappia, he vowed to report any chimps he discovered being sold or kept. And on the ride home, Ali said that he?d let any ?white people? in his taxi know that he could take them to see (not buy) the chimps ? just a 20 minute drive from the capital city of Freetown.

Back in the US, I?ve taken note of the Captive Primate Safety Act that has languished in Congress since 2007. It seeks to protect monkeys, chimps and other primates from the exotic pet trade in the US. The Humane Society suggests that people urge their legislators to support the act when it is reintroduced next year.

Kappia managed to convince rebels notorious for rape, amputations, and other crimes against humanity to leave the chimps alone. So when he asked me why our civil society continues to allow chimp pets and promotes chimps as entertainment despite the harm that then befalls our closest cousins, I felt lame answering, because we think it?s funny.

Windows 8 Sells 40 Million Licenses in First Month

The numbers are in for the first month of the Windows 8 operating system and things are looking not too shabby for the Microsoft venture despite assertions stating otherwise. According to reports, some 40 million licenses were sold in the first month, meaning that it?s outpacing Windows 7 in terms of upgrades.

Of course, Windows 7 moved 60 million copies in its first 10 weeks. An estimated 40 million licenses of that were sold in the first month, too, so the numbers certainly appear to be quite comparable if not exactly the same. It?ll depend on how Windows 8 continues to pace itself.

A lot of the discussion has?centred?on the issue of cost. The Windows 8 upgrades are much cheaper than the transition to Windows 7. Microsoft is currently selling upgrades to 8 in the range of $39.99, depending on market locale, and that could mean that some users are purchasing the upgrade but not installing it yet.

Many are presumably just fine with how Windows 7 has been doing and have no intentions of moving on to Windows 8, but they?ve taken the relatively affordable Windows 8 as a sort of failsafe in case things start to roll in the direction of the newer operating system.

Offering Windows 8 at such an inexpensive price could very well harm Microsoft?s bottom line, at least when it comes to overall revenue, and it certainly won?t compete on grounds of cash alone with the likes of Apple. Some have even taken to calling Windows users ?cheapskates,? based in part at least on the idea that so many apps in the Windows 8 Store are free. Nothing like a little dumb rivalry.

This could turn out well for Microsoft in the end, but it could also spell disaster in a land where revenue is king. The company may be able to convert a good number of people to its Windows 8 operating system after wearing them down for a while, but if many potential users are buying in when the prices are low Microsoft might have trouble gathering more cash.

In contrast, Apple sold 40 million iPads in all of 2011. OS X has about 66 million users in total. From this, it?s fair to conclude that reports of the death of the PC market have been greatly exaggerated ? at least for now.

Warren Buffett calls for a minimum tax on the wealthy

(Reuters) - Warren Buffett, the legendary investor who changed the debate about U.S. tax reform in 2011 with a call for the rich to pay more, is now calling for minimum tax rates for millionaires.

In a New York Times editorial printed on Monday, Buffett suggested Congress move immediately to implement minimum taxes of 30 percent on incomes of $1 million to $10 million and 35 percent above that.

"A plain and simple rule like that will block the efforts of lobbyists, lawyers and contribution-hungry legislators to keep the ultra rich paying rates well below those incurred by people with income just a tiny fraction of ours," Buffett wrote.

"Only a minimum tax on very high incomes will prevent the stated tax rate from being eviscerated by these warriors for the wealthy," he added.

The new push is in keeping with the one he made in the same newspaper in August 2011, in which he decried the "coddling" of the super-rich. He used himself and his secretary as an example, noting that her tax rate was much higher than his even though her income was just a tiny fraction of what he made.

"Warren Buffett's secretary" became a political meme following that editorial, and the said secretary, Debbie Bosanek, was ultimately a guest of President Barack Obama at this year's State of the Union address.

The 2011 editorial spurred Obama to seek the implementation of what he called the "Buffett Rule," which set a 30 percent tax rate on millionaires. Opponents said it would stifle spending by the job-creating well-to-do, a notion Buffett ridiculed in the new editorial.

"So let's forget about the rich and ultra rich going on strike and stuffing their ample funds under their mattresses if ? gasp ? capital gains rates and ordinary income rates are increased," he said. "The ultra rich, including me, will forever pursue investment opportunities."

Buffett, whom Forbes ranks as the world's third-richest person, is the chief executive officer of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, the ice-cream-to-insurance conglomerate that employs more than a quarter-million people around the world.

He acknowledged in Monday's editorial that some people like him might stop investing as they wait for Congress to act.

"In the meantime, maybe you'll run into someone with a terrific investment idea, who won't go forward with it because of the tax he would owe when it succeeds," Buffett said. "Send him my way. Let me unburden him."

At 0-32, gay-marriage forces seek 1st win at polls

BOWIE, Md. (AP) ? Irene Huskens has the wedding venue picked out: a charming bed-and-breakfast in southern Maryland. But the wedding is no sure thing.

The plans made by Huskens, a 43-year-old police captain, and her partner, Leia Burks, hinge on whether Marylanders make history on Nov. 6 by voting to legalize same-sex marriage. A "yes" vote, and the wedding is on. A "no" victory? Huskens is loath to consider it.

"There are a lot of Marylanders who want to set the precedent of equality who will vote from their gut for fairness," she said at her colonial suburban home in Prince George's County, where she and Burks are raising two adopted children.

Dating back to 1998, 32 states have held votes on same-sex marriage, and all 32 have opposed it. Maryland is one of four states with Nov. 6 referendums on the issue ? and gay-marriage advocates believe there's a strong chance the streak will be broken.

In Maryland, Maine and Washington, it's an up-or-down vote on legalizing same-sex marriage. In Minnesota, there's a measure to place a ban on gay marriage in the state constitution, as 30 other states have done previously.

Groups supporting same-sex marriage, which has been legalized by court rulings or legislative votes in six states and the District of Columbia, are donating millions of dollars to the four campaigns. They're hoping for at least one victory to deprive their foes of the potent argument that gay marriage has never prevailed at the ballot box.

"Our opposition uses this talking point with elected officials and in courtrooms," said Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign. The national gay-rights group is contributing more than $4.4 million to the four state campaigns.

"If we're able to win one of these four, it will be a narrative change ? proof that the public has moved our way dramatically," Griffin said.

Opponents of gay marriage expect to be outspent in the four states, perhaps by more than 2-to-1 overall, yet they remain hopeful their winning streak can be preserved.

"We definitely can win all four if we can increase the fundraising," said Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage, which has pumped more than $2 million into the campaigns against gay marriage. Its TV advertising is just beginning, including in the expensive markets that reach Marylanders in the Washington, D.C., suburbs.

"We do have a big hill to climb to be able to effectively communicate our message," Brown said. "But we don't need to match the other side ? we win repeatedly while being outspent."

All four states are expected to be carried in November by President Barack Obama, who came out in support of same-sex marriage earlier this year.

In Maryland, as in Maine and Washington, the most recent polls show a lead for the supporters of same-sex marriage. But comparable leads in other states ? notably in California in 2008 ? evaporated by Election Day, and Josh Levin, manager of the Marylanders for Marriage Equality campaign, expects the final result to be extremely close.

Levin and his allies are aware that Maryland, because its polls close earlier than Maine's or Washington's, could become the first state to approve same-sex marriage by popular vote.

"We cannot take it for granted," Levin said. "That being said, if we make it happen in Maryland, the lessons learned here can be applied across the country."

The campaign has been intensifying in recent weeks, widening rifts among Maryland's most prominent Catholics, among black clergy, even among NFL teammates. Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has endorsed same-sex marriage; center Matt Birk wrote a newspaper column opposing it.

The divide among Catholics ? the state's largest denomination ? has been striking. Archbishop William Lori and the Maryland Catholic Conference are actively campaigning against same-sex marriage. Catholic VIPs supporting it include Gov. Martin O'Malley and former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.

In both Maryland and Washington state, voters are being asked to approve or reject a same-sex marriage bill passed by the legislature earlier this year. In each case, opponents were able to collect enough signatures to challenge the laws.

O'Malley, who played a key role in winning legislative support, says the law has strong provisions to protect the religious freedoms of the Catholic Church and other faiths that disapprove of same-sex marriage.

"We're a people of many different faiths, and it's so important that we protect rights equally under the law," he said.

Among several openly gay legislators who helped advance the bill was Delegate Heather Mizeur, who married her lesbian partner during a brief window when same-sex marriage was legal in California in 2008.

Mizeur says she's a dedicated Catholic, despite her opposition to church teaching on marriage.

"The No. 1 tenet of our faith is the primacy of our conscience," Mizeur said. "That was important to me as a young person, sitting there trying to pray the gay away."

Another churchgoing Catholic active in the gay-marriage campaign is 83-year-old Erma Durkin of Glen Arm, whose gay son married his longtime partner in New York last year. Durkin said she's made clear to her pastor that she objects to materials inserted in the church bulletin conveying the Catholic hierarchy's opposition to same-sex marriage.

"You can't command that someone stay celibate and single all their life," Durkin said. "If we find someone we love that much that we want to marry, that's a wonderful thing."

On the other side, Archbishop Lori recently hosted a meeting of same-sex marriage opponents to mobilize for the campaign's home stretch.

"The union of man and woman is not only a good for the couple, but for the entire community of believers and for humanity," Lori told the gathering.

Within the opponents' coalition, the Maryland Marriage Alliance, black pastors are playing a key role. One of them, the Rev. Derek McCoy, is the campaign chairman; he is keenly aware of the high stakes.

"Eyes are on us from around the country," he said. "We have a gargantuan task ahead of us."

Blacks comprise about 25 percent of Maryland's electorate, and polls showed a significant increase in their support of same-sex marriage after it was endorsed in May by Obama and the Baltimore-based National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

"The question isn't if marriage equality will prevail ? the only question is when," said Ben Jealous, the NAACP's president. "The rising generation of young voters is the most diverse and inclusive we've seen. It's only a matter of time until the laws catch up with them."

McCoy believes most Maryland blacks still oppose same-sex marriage and said one of his coalition's challenges is persuading them to vote "No" in the referendum even if they support Obama.

"Some people are in a quandary," he said, "We're telling them, 'Don't vote against your conscience.'"

The Rev. Delmon Coates, pastor of a large, predominantly black Baptist church in Prince George's County, has taken up the banner on the other side. He recently brought national civil rights leaders, including the Rev. Al Sharpton, to the region to endorse same-sex marriage.

As in Maryland, the campaign in Washington state involves a measure signed into law by a Catholic governor, Christine Gregoire, and now being challenged by gay-marriage foes.

The coalition supporting gay marriage has raised more than $8.9 million, compared to about $1.7 million for the opponents. The biggest single donation in support of the law came from Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, who donated $2.5 million in July.

Maine's ballot measure marks the first time that gay-rights supporters ? rather than opponents ? have chosen to put same-sex marriage before voters. A gay-marriage law passed by the legislature in 2009 was quashed that fall after opponents gathered enough signatures for a referendum; this year, gay-marriage supporters used the same tactic to give voters a chance to reconsider.

The political action committee backing same-sex marriage in Maine raised about $3.4 million through September, compared to $430,000 for the leading opposition PAC.

At stake in Minnesota is a proposed amendment that would strengthen the existing law against same-sex marriage by inserting it in the state constitution. If the amendment is defeated, it would still take a legislative act, court ruling or future popular vote to legalize gay marriage.

The main group opposed to the amendment raised $7.8 million by the end of September. The leading group supporting it raised about $2 million, nearly half of that from Catholic dioceses and affiliated organizations.

A Minneapolis Star Tribune poll last month found 49 percent of likely voters supporting the amendment and 47 percent opposing it, within the poll's margin of error.

In all four states, TV ads airing against same-sex marriage are the brainchild of political strategist Frank Schubert, whose ads were credited with a key role in California's passage of the Proposition 8 ban on gay marriage in 2008.

Schubert's strategy is to laud heterosexual marriage as a timeless institution that should not be "redefined" and to warn that legalization of same-sex marriage can impinge on the rights of those who oppose it. He says such ads offer "solid lines of argument," while his gay-rights rivals assail them as deceptive scare-mongering.

To Schubert, the four-state showdown is "a big deal" ? in part because the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to take up the question of same-sex marriage soon.

"We don't want to lose anywhere," Schubert said. "If one state does go the wrong way, we'll argue that this is just one of out of 36 ... But we'd rather be arguing we've won every time it has gone before voters."

Mobile Gaming 2012 NPD Group survey: 23% of app users play - BGR

Mobile Gaming 2012 NPD

Given how successful games such as Rovio?s Bad Piggies have been, it?s not shocking that mobile gaming hasn?t peaked yet. According to the NPD Group?s latest Mobile Gaming 2012?report, 23 percent of 5,923 ?app gamers? surveyed said they played games exclusively on mobile devices and nearly 50% of them said they played more mobile games this year compared to 2011. The NPD Group cited two reasons for the rapid increase in app gamers: free games and convenience. While many app games do start out free, 30 percent of those surveyed said they had made in-app purchases or upgraded from the free version to the paid one.

?Many mobile gaming consumers have grown accustomed to gaming for free, making it essential to find the sweet spot for pricing that encourages purchasing by as many consumers as possible,? said Liam Callahan, an analyst at NPD Group.

Callahan went on to say the challenge for developers and publishers is how to convert gamers from the free versions to the paid ones, or to even lure mobile gamers over to console gaming where games and in-game extras cost significantly more than on mobile.

The NPD Group?s press release follows below.

?

CLOSE TO ONE QUARTER OF APP GAMERS ONLY PLAY ON MOBILE DEVICES

Port Washington, NY, October 11, 2012 ? According to Mobile Gaming 2012, the latest report from leading market research company, The NPD Group, among all app gamers, 59 percent of total game play is done on a mobile device.? The growing importance of app gamers, defined as mobile gamers who play most often on a smartphone or tablet, is demonstrated by the fact that 23 percent of these app gamers only play on mobile devices.

?

When comparing the gaming behavior of gamers in 2012 vs. 2011, almost half of gamers said they are playing mobile games more this year than last year, with the main reasons for this increase being free apps (37 percent), followed closely by portability and convenience (34 percent).

?

App Acquisition

Close to 30 percent of app gamers have made either an in-app game purchase or have upgraded from a free app to a paid version. The average price at which app gamers feel they would have received a good value is for an app game purchase or a free-to-paid app upgrade is approximately $3.

?

Gamers who choose to game most often on a smartphone are not as likely to have made an in-app game purchase or to have upgraded to a paid app when compared to tablet gamers who are more likely to have done both behaviors. Not surprisingly, as gaming frequency increases, so does the likelihood of having made a purchase or upgrade.

?

?Many mobile gaming consumers have grown accustomed to gaming for free, making it essential to find the sweet spot for pricing that encourages purchasing by as many consumers as possible,? said Liam Callahan, industry analyst, The NPD Group. ?Mobile game developers and publishers need to be able to maximize their opportunities by identifying ways to increase the number of gamers willing to upgrade their free apps or pay for in-app purchases, which currently stand at close to 30 percent.? Another opportunity for the industry as a whole is to convert mobile-only gamers to engage in other gaming activities across portables, consoles and PC?s where we see more money being spent per user.?

?

Methodology

An online survey was fielded from August 7, 2012 to August 16, 2012 to members of NPD?s online panel. The survey was completed by 5,923 individuals ages 2 and older.? For children under the age of 16, respondents were contacted using a parental surrogate, with the parent sitting with the child and helping younger children complete the survey if necessary.

W.E.N.N ? Josh Lucas' Wife Battling Cervical Cancer

Actor Josh Lucas? new bride has revealed she is battling cervical cancer.
Jessica Henriquez risked her health and life to carry the Sweet Home Alabama star?s son Noah to full term in June after doctors advised her to consider undergoing a hysterectomy ? and now she faces a full-on cancer battle after learning the disease has advanced from stage 1A to stage 1B.
Henriquez tells the Huffington Post she kept the news to herself until she fell for Lucas and began a whirlwind romance last year that turned into marriage in March ? and while she was mulling over her options she fell pregnant.
She says, ?I hadn?t thought about children. It wasn?t my dream since I was a little girl to have a family, but when a doctor looks you in the eyes and takes that option off the table, it immediately sets something off in you ? this motherhood gene.?
Henriquez chose to continue with the pregnancy against doctors? advice, adding, ?I think that things happen in life that you have to pay attention to.?
Little Noah was born in June and now the proud mom is convinced she made the right decision: ?I don?t for a second regret anything? If the cancer has progressed because I did nothing for a year to contain it or treat it, I don?t feel any guilt, and I don?t feel like it was a bad decision.
?Every morning that I wake up with Josh and Noah, I?m even more assured that it was the right decision for me.?
Henriquez will continue treatment.

Hamas signs binding military commitment to Iran-led war against Israel

Hamas leader Mahmoud A-Zahar and deputy commander of its military arm, Marwan Issa, spent the second week of September in Beirut and Tehran finalizing and signing protocols covering a binding commitment by the radical Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip to join Iran, Syria and Hizballah in a war on Israel, debkafile?s exclusive military sources disclose.
The protocols set out in detail the circumstances, procedures and terms governing Hamas?s participation in a conflict, whether it arises from an Israeli attack on Iran?s nuclear program or the involvement of Iran?s allies, Syria and Hizballah, in comprehensive or partial hostilities against Israel. Hamas agreed to obey any orders to attack the Jewish state coming from Tehran, Damascus or Beirut.

Tehran also required A-Zahar and Issa to attach their signatures to copies of the military understandings Iranian National Security Director Saeed Jalili concluded with Bashar Assad during his visit to Damascus on Aug. 7. Those understandings, debkafile reports, touched off the massive Iranian airlift currently carrying hundreds of military personnel and weapons day by day to the embattled Syrian regime.
Hamas?s signature provided a booster shot of 22,000 trained fighters including reservists for the battle array of elite Iranian al Qods Brigades units building up in Syria and Lebanon and taking up positions along Israel?s borders.

This buildup prompted the large-scale snap military exercise Israel staged on the Golan Wednesday, Sept. 19. Most of the forces stayed on after the exercise was over and spread out along the Syrian and Lebanese borders.

The directives Hamas leaders received in Tehran after their meetings with top officials were detailed and precise. They were handed down in person by Defense Minister Ahmed Wahidi, Revolutionary Guards Chief Gen. Ali Jafari, the Al Qods Brigades commander, Qassem Soleimani, and a select group of Iranian intelligence experts on the Israel.

Those orders were presented in the language of commands and brooked no argument. Tehran had two goals:

1. To leave no leeway for the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, of which the Palestinian Hamas is an offshoot, to veto the pledges Hamas signed in Tehran. The Palestinian Hamas was put on notice that the group was now under contract to defer to Tehran in military matters ahead of Cairo.

2.? Iran, Hizballah and Syria instructed Hamas to stop obstructing Jihad Islami?s activities in the Gaza Strip and be ready to operate in harmony with Iran?s Palestinian proxy against Israel. In a potential outbreak of war, both must take their orders from Iran?s Middle East command.

For placing itself under Tehran?s jackboot, Hamas was assured of the resumption?of Iranian economic aid and fresh supplies of missiles, advanced hi-tech war equipment to improve the accuracy of its rocket attacks on Israel - which rarely hit much - and anti-air weapons systems.

Iran had been keeping Hamas short pending the guarantees and pledges of allegiance A Zahar carried to Tehran and Beirut in the round trips he made between Sept 8 and 13.? Even then, to make sure there were no loopholes in their accords, the Iranians forced the Hamas delegation to break its journey home to the Gaza Strip in Beirut, repeat their commitments?to Tehran to Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah and re-sign the documents in his presence. Failing to honor the deal, they warned, would elicit the immediate cutoff of Iranian aid and supplies.

debkafile?s military analysts report Hamas? decision to unreservedly hitch its star to the Iranian wagon produced immediate fallout ? especially on Egyptian-Israeli relations and counter-terror operations in Egyptian Sinai.

Friday, Islamist terrorists breached the Egyptian-Israeli border from Sinai, shot dead IDF Corp. Netanel Yahalomi and injured a second soldier, before the IDF killed three of the gunmen in a shootout. In the last year, Sinai has become the stamping ground for al Qaeda cells and allied Islamic terrorists. Egypt?s new rulers have proved unequal to the job of controlling the territory.
At the same time, Cairo is?demanding the revision of the 1979 peace treaty?s military clauses. President Mohamed Morsi said Sunday, Sept 23, that his government would uphold the peace pact with Israel only if US commits to helping the Palestinians attain self-rule.

Israeli leaders are now asking what guarantees is President Morsi offering for offsetting any Iranian-orchestrated Hamas war operations from Gaza in line with the accord they have just signed in Tehran and Beirut.

Furthermore, they ask, what happens to the al Qaeda cells and other military groups rampant in Sinai? Up until now Iran and Hamas ran their ties with those terrorists on separate tracks. Will they now effect a merger?

A note of foreboding on this score was struck by Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz Sunday, Sept. 23, when he toured the scene of the last shootout with Sinai terrorists.
?The Sinai border will continue to present us with a challenge,? he said. ?We have made a colossal effort in the last two years to seal off the Egyptian border and it will be done. But even then, the threat will not disappear.?
